A new project has been launched "The Next Mile of the European Civil Society Infrastructure: Boosting the Potential of Bulgarian and Romanian Civil Society Organisation to Improve the Social Environment"

Between January 2006 - January 2008 the Institute for an Open Society Sofia, in partnership with the Euroregional Center for Democracy- Romania, the European Roma Information Office- Bruxelles, Belgium and the Civil Society Development Foundation- Hungary, implement The Next Mile of the European Civil Society Infrastructure (Boosting the potential of Bulgarian and Romanian Civil Society Organisation to improve the Social Environment) project. This initiative is funded by the European Commission under the Networking Programme, Civil Society Component - Romania and Bulgaria.

The specific objective of the project is strengthening of the role of Bulgarian and Romanian Third Sector in improving social environment through improved institutional capacity of civil society organisations (CSOs).

Non-governmental organisations can be involved in the project either as active participant in the conduct of a research regarding third sector’s capacity to provide social services, as beneficiary of training sessions, as beneficiary of personnel exchanges among Romanian, Bulgarian CSOs and CSOs from EU countries, or as beneficiary of the platform for delivery of consultations.

Romanian – Norwegian cooperation for improving accessibility of universities and university libraries in Western Romania

The Euroregional Center for Democracy (CED) from Timisoara, Romania, and the School of Management in Fribourg, Switzerland, are launching a competition to select student organizations or initiative groups to conduct communication/advocacy campaigns in the university campuses of Timisoara.
