Cross-border ecological behaviour

`Models of Environment Protection Behaviours and Assimilation of Ecological Values in the Cross-border Area` project is implemented by the Euroregional Center for Democracy in partnership with the City Hall of Dudestii Vechi, Theoretical High School `Mihai Eminescu` from Jimbolia, the City Hall of Melenci and School `Milos Crnjanski` from Kikinda. The project is carried out with the financial support of the European Union through the Neighbourhood Programme Romania - Serbia Phare CBC 2005. The amount of the funding is 44.840 EURO.

The aim of the project is to identify models of campaigns for education and information of citizens from four pilot localities in Romania and Serbia (Dudestii Vechi, Jimbolia, Melenci, Kikinda) in order to promote environment protection behaviors.

From the activities carried out so far we can mention:
Groups of innitiative were formed in each of the four localities, by selecting six members and one local coordinator
Two training sessions were organized on the subject of ecological education and methods to stimulate citizens` ecological behaviour.

The next activities will include information campaigns for citizens in the four localities on the importance of environmental issues and the necessity for citizens to get involved in civic activities to protect it, education and involvement of community members and local institutions in an exercise of civic-ecological behaviour, distribution of informative materials containing the results of the information campaigns on environment protection in the neighbouring localities.

Romanian – Norwegian cooperation for improving accessibility of universities and university libraries in Western Romania
Between 4 and 9 June, 2016, the Euroregional Center for Democracy (CED) made a study visit to Halden and Oslo, Norway, in order to set the ground for a Romanian-Norwegian know-how exchange, in the field of accessibility of universities and university libraries for people with disabilities.

The Euroregional Center for Democracy (CED) from Timisoara, Romania, and the School of Management in Fribourg, Switzerland, are launching a competition to select student organizations or initiative groups to conduct communication/advocacy campaigns in the university campuses of Timisoara.
